WHAT ARE MURAMATSU VINTAGE FLUTES?
As an authorized (1988) Muramatsu technician/dealer/lover/fanatic, I prefer those that were made in the 80’s and 90’s (serial numbers up to ca. 55000).
These great Handmade Muramatsu Vintage Flutes have the following significant values:
– Rich- and homogeneous bel-canto sound;
– A never-failing-mechanism & pads that hardly have to be fixed or adjusted!
(Unless not badly mistreated. Primarily by woodwind-repair persons; and/or lazy- quick-profit-focused flute-technicians; and/or other loose cannons);
– Traditional Muramatsu felt pads that last 4-5 times longer than any modern-style; patented; exorbitantly expensive pads! (Such as the various versions of M-pads, Straubinger, Pisoni S2, Gold-pads and others).
Luckily, I still own some Brand-new Vintage EX, GX, DN, SR, PT-P models, and sell them to connoisseurs.
Regretfully, it’s the last stock of Brand-New Vintage Muramatsu Flutes. No Brand-New Vintage Flutes will ever be available anymore, worldwide! (Unless somewhere hidden).

(1) Only authentically repaired/overhauled in the past or (preferably) never repaired at all.
(2) With the original Muramatsu spare-parts and technique as originally the model was made.

P.S. In case you have another opinion about the above I fully respect yours, although firmly stand behind mine.
- The only Muramatsu models that list their model name are the EX and GX models. The first generation have EX/GX followed by a three or four digit serial number engraved on the rib near the first post. (EX123, etc). The second and third generation EX and GX models are engraved on the back of the neck of the body.
- Find out the year of production for your piano with the help of the serial number. In the form below, select your brand and enter your serial number.
- When pawn brokers or wary internet buyers want more information about the value of a vintage Muramatsu, they often contact us. We keep a record of serial numbers and are quickly able to tell them all we know about the flute. If we can’t help get your Muramatsu rescued, we’ll help get it replaced. We can work with your insurance company.
